Too much to say!

We just got back from a week's vacation in...Michigan City, Indiana. What's that? You've never heard of it? You can't figure out why anyone would want to go to Indiana for a vacation? Well, just take a look at this.
1. The Beach

2. The Zoo (note the wandering peacock in the second pic)
3. Mt. Baldy (the dunes)
4. The Family
3. The Property
4. The Sunsets
It's close, it's got lots to do, and it only rained at night! A good time was had by all :)

In addition to all that, this city has a fantastic outlet mall that is really within walking distance. (But at 90 degrees I wasn't walkin' anywhere except the beach!) I mention this because the credit card has been very busy for the last two weeks. Online fabric sales before and during the vacation, a few more vintage patterns (online and at an antique mall in MC), and of course, some outlet purchases. I did have certain items I wanted to get for the kids (Gymboree and The Children's Place) but my wardrobe grew a little too. Four sleeveless T's (Liz Claiborne, Ann Klein) and the most exciting of all, a bright pink and yellow belt from J. Crew. You don't know this but I spent most of the summer last year in search of a yellow belt. When I finally found one I got it home and it was way too big. I added the extra holes but the entire thing was topstitched and couldn't be shortened (scroll down)in length. I don't even try to wear it anymore. Will have to share the fabric and patterns later this weekend. Gotta get off the computer and sew, for Pete's sake!

Just one more thing. Here's a website you must check out, if you haven't already. If it doesn't work, go to style.com and scroll down to the Perfect Jeans Calculator. It's not just for jeans. Once you put in your measurements they assign your body type and have links to many, many, many garments that will (are supposed to) flatter you. I'm excited because this is something I struggle with. I know what garments I want to make but am never 100% sure that it will flatter my figure. I like to shop RTW for ideas but don't like it enough to actually go try on high end garments that I know I have no intention of purchasing. I shall take the magazine's advice and see how it works out.

Happy sewing!

I know exactly where Michigan City, Indiana is - and why you'd go there for vacation! The beaches are very nice there. I've been to that outlet mall once. I like Union Pier and New Buffalo, just over the border, too.
