I Love Threads

I love Threads. I will never, ever, ever throw away my magazines. I discovered this publication when I was working in a fabric store right around issue #40. As soon as I had some extra money, I ordered some back issues that had articles of interest. I now possess a library of magazines that is 90% complete (let my subscription lapse a few years ago).

My collection combined with the power of the internet has created an invaluable resource of sewing information. In the past year I’ve gone to their website, searched the index, and headed for my library. Ta da, there’s the information I wanted!

As one of my new year’s resolutions, I’ll be re-padding and customizing the dress form I’ve used for decades. My original cover was constructed by following a four-part series in Threads and based on my success the first time, I’m repeating the same process to fit my “changed” body. It took little more than 10 minutes for me to find the articles I need from my precious Threads library.

How about you – can you beat my record of 90%? I’ve heard tell that some people actually have every single issue. I’m envious. Do you find this magazine as valuable as me? Is there another publication you find equally informative or better?

Just found your blog via PR :-)

I can't beat you're 90% on the Threads magazines, but I do agree that every single issue is a keeper. I was fortunate enough to pick up some of the issues I was missing at Half Price Books and at a library book sale. Was the fabric store you worked at located in Minneapolis? Just curious if I knew which one it was.
Nice blog ... I'll be back!

Thanks for the compliment on the blog. Hopefully, I'll be able to continue posting on a regular basis!

Yes, the fabric store was in Minneapolis - Bloomington. It was Northwest Fabrics and closed a long, long time ago. Do you know the area?
